"Santiago and the Marlin" is a collaborative work between me and my sculptor husband, Geoffrey Novelli, and was inspired by Ernest Hemingway's short novel, "The Old Man and the Sea." He created a platter that looks like a huge wave, and I painted the image of a fisherman struggling for several hours with a Marlin that he caught and was trying to pull in. The bad news is that his boat was encircled by menacing sharks. This ceramic was shown at an exhibit titled "Chicago Artists Interpret American Literature" at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.
