I painting this work in only three hours, sitting in that auspicious location in Venice between St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace. It was hot, yet there was a coolish breeze from the Grand Canal. Tourists were having a field day shopping four 'Venice tourista" at the concessions and taking pictures. Upon arriving home and comparing travel stories with my niece, Jennifer Mosher, I was delighted to find that this happened to be her favorite scene in her travels!
