This gouache painting on Yupo paper, a translucent substrate, was completed for a group exhibition titled “Ethereal Fauna," an investigation by Chicago-area artists of the inner animal muse within each of us. In this exhibit, all artists have created unique metaphorical portraits of their animal spirits, or those of another person, place, or thing – even society as a whole. This is a humorous depiction of myself and my husband at our wedding in August 2009 -- it is meant to capture our tenacity and adventuresome spirit. Like a wildcat and a tigress, we grasp onto life for all it is worth.
